Green Hills is home to Nashville's most upscale shopping centers, the Mall at Green Hills, and the Green Hills Center, which house stores like Nordstrom, Merril, Whole Foods, West Elm, Coach, Apple, and a vast array of other fine retailers. Green Hills Schools

For those with families, Nashville's Green Hills neighborhood has the largest concentration of primary and secondary schools, and on top of award-winning public schools include Montessori, denominational, and private options such as Julia Green Elementary and Harpeth Hall School. Green Hills also has easy access to all of Nashville's universities, with Lipscomb University within a 5 minute drive and Belmont, Vanderbilt, Trevecca, and Tennessee State all located within a 10 minute drive.

Green Hills is located southwest of downtown Nashville, near the other subdivisions and communities of Sylvan Park, Hillsboro Village, Forest Hills, Belle Meade, and Oak Hill. Green Hills is aptly named, and the majority of its residential roads feature many broad, tree-lined avenues and verdantly appointed homes, and it is easy to forget that one is less than ten minutes from the heart of Downtown Nashville. Although the area was originally composed only of lavish private residences, in the last few years Green Hills has given rise to many upscale shopping centers and entertainment destinations.

Attractions & Amenities in Green Hills

Green Hills is located just south of the Downtown area on Hillsboro Road. It offers a wide range of eateries available to suit your taste buds. If you’re traveling from across state from New York and feel a bit homesick then why not pop into Nashville, this is a deli that offers New York style food in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. If you love music in the Music City then you should most definitely drop by F.Scott's restaurant and Jazz bar, it has won the award of Best Restaurant and Best Service from Nashville Scene’s Reader’s Choice.

You have a huge choice of different shops in Green Hills, not only do you have the popular Green Hills Mall, you also have a couple of shopping centers to boot, along with all the independent businesses in this area also you a literally spoilt for choice. The Mall features very popular stores such as Victoria's Secret and Macy’s. The Mall isn’t the only place to go for clothing stores. You have such a variety to choose from it is best you explore in person. There is over 30 independent stores alone such as Barton Perreira which specializes in designer eyewear and also Trader Joe’s Grocery Store.

Green Hills is home to Lipscomb University, which is a faith-based, liberal arts institution that challenges student spiritually as well as academically. There is also Hillsboro High School which is a fairly large public school, people have said the IB diploma program is one of the best in the United States. Green Hills also features The Montgomery Bell Academy which offers a classical education for the 21st Century. This is a Prep School that is available to boys through grades 7 to 12.

There is only one park in Green Hills and it is very well used, but in a sense it could use a lawn mower from time to time. It does feature a tennis court and baseball diamonds that have been said to look terrific. It has a playground for the children, all the equipment is safe and in pretty good shape. Even though the soccer field looks fantastic some people have said that the area around there needs just as much care.

Mapping Nashville's Green Hills

Travel time between Green Hills and Nashville International Airport are fairly short depending on the traffic, the journey itself is just under 13 miles and is only 20 minutes by car. You can either take the I-40-E or you can take the Harding Pl. The distance to Lipscomb University is walkable from almost anywhere in Green Hills, at just under 2 miles it should take 2 minutes by car or roughly 10 minutes walking depending on where you’re coming from.
