  1. 312 Pizza Company - As Chicago natives the cooks at 312 take pride in bringing Nashvillians authentic Chicago deep dish pizza and other specialties from the Windy City. Their pizza sauce recipe has been passed down over 3 generations form our grandmother, who spent time cooking with the Italian immigrants in Little Italy.

Resplendent in hideous purple paint, Tootsie's Orchid Lounge opens at 10:00 am with live bands and doesn't stop until way past everyone's bedtime. A good range of drinks and fast food are available and the staff don't pester you for refills. All the bands I heard were top class. There's no cover charge, but it's polite to put something in the tip bucket.

While still a male a cappella group, Straight No Chaser isn't straight-laced or straight-faced... but they're not vaudeville, either. They take the music seriously without taking themselves seriously, and in the process, have reinvented the idea of a cappella within the modern pop landscape.

Their statement in the Journal says that the hotel will have 224 rooms. It is expected to open in summer 2016. Its location will be a lot along Pine Street. But downtown has more luxury boutique hotels than you can shake a stick at: it's the doughnuts we care about!
