The 6th annual Hank Thompson Trek and Treat will bring greater awareness of lung cancer, the nation's leading cancer killer, to the Hendersonville community through this extraordinary and festive family event on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at The Streets of Indian Lake, 300 Indian Lake Boulevard, Hendersonville, TN.

The Hank Thompson Trek and Treat is comprised of a 10K/5K Run/Walk, a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, and the Goblin Gallop ­ a special 100 yard race for the younger children. The 10K and 5K routes are competitive events, with CASH prizes for overall top male and female and awards for the top finishers in each age division. All participants are invited to don family-friendly Halloween costumes in spirit of the October holiday as well.

The Heroes in Heels Fashion Show embodies one of the main goals of the YMCA's After Breast Cancer Program- to help survivors regain their beauty and confidence after the disease and medications to heal them wreak havoc on their bodies. This event will be held at The Factory in Franklin on October 2, 2014 at 5:30 pm. Boscos Restaurant has closed in Hillsboro Village after nearly two decades of serving locals and beer lovers of all ages; it's last day was Sunday, September 21. Jerry Feinstone, one of the restaurant's owners, called the move a business decision that comes amid challenges increasing sales after a decline during the Great Recession. 

When Boscos opened at 1805 21st Ave. in Hillsboro Village, it was Nashville's second brew pub. The opening came three years after a separate company with similar principals opened Boscos Germantown near Memphis as the first licensed brewery in Tennessee. The owners have stated that they intend to return to brewing in Memphis, focusing on a restaurant called Boscos Squared on Overton Square in that city and a production

By the early 1980s, the Lower Broadway district was falling on hard times. The Grand Ole Opry had moved from the Ryman Auditorium to the Gaylord Complex at Opryland U.S.A., dealing a devastating blow to the downtown merchants who relied heavily on the traffic of fans, tourists, and music business folks who attended the Opry.
